Online Accommodations FAQs

NEW GUIDELINES

As we begin the 2020-2021 academic year, the Office of Accessibility Resources and Services (OARS) would like to share with you the new guidelines for students taking Paper exams with academic accommodations. These changes are directly related to COVID 19 and social distancing. Online examinations will not be given at OARS unless the student has an “Adaptive Technology” accommodation.

NEW GUIDELINES

  • Students will only have THREE time slots per day to take an exam at OARS.  These times are:
  • 8:30 am
  • 11:00 am
  • 2:00 pm
** There will be a limit of 12 students per time slot, equating to 36 per day. The time should be noted on the confirmation you submit. These slots will be allotted to whichever student signs up first.
  • OARS will send one electronic confirmation two (2) days before the scheduled exam. A second reminder will be sent one day before the scheduled day of the exam.
  • Paper exams should be in our office by 5:00 pm the day before.  Students will be notified two hours (2) in advance to arrive at your classroom to take their exam if we have not received the exam.
  • Exams will remain in the office due to integrity and security issues. You may come to OARS to pick up the exam between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

OARS believes the new guidelines will benefit both our students and instructors in terms of the process becoming more efficient and safe for everyone involved. We anticipate there will be a few challenges transitioning to the new process. Our hope is to ensure our students have the necessary accommodations to ensure equitable access in collaboration with all of us.
