Testing Accommodations

  • Students who arrive more than 15 minutes late for their exam may be required to reschedule. This will depend on space available AND written approval from the instructor.

New Test Scheduling Info, effective 4/1/23
We are pleased to collaborate with the University Proctoring Lab (UPL) to provide consistency in test scheduling across campus. If you have testing accommodations approved by OARS, your instructors received notification of the new scheduling process and have been advised of the following options:
Provide accommodated testing within their space (e.g., the extended time is available in your classroom; there’s an available conference room, office, etc. nearby where the student may test; etc.)
If instructors cannot provide your testing accommodations within their space, they’ve been given a link to complete a testing instruction form to allow OARS or the UPL to assist them in scheduling your testing appointment via the TracCloud platform.
The biggest change to this process is that we are now asking faculty to tell us their test details BEFORE you schedule your appointment. Once we receive the testing instructions from your faculty, OARS and the UPL will help you schedule an appointment that meets your availability and location needs. That help will direct you to http://go.uncg.edu/trac, where you will schedule your proctoring appointment. You may schedule your test before your instructor has sent the details. We can administer the test once instructors have sent the info.

AGAIN, effective 4/1/23, students may schedule their testing appointments in the UPL or OARS, via http://go.uncg.edu/trac. Specific scheduling information is attached.

    Please note the following:
Tests scheduled to begin or end after 5 p.m. must be scheduled in the UPL.
Tests beginning before 9 a.m. must be scheduled in OARS.
Students with “reduced-distraction” testing accommodations may schedule as available in the UPL or OARS space. The UPL typically has testing slots available for up to 90 minutes; other than for finals.
Students with a verified accommodation for a private testing room can schedule in one of the four (4) private rooms available in OARS.
FINALS Only – Students requiring a distraction-reduced environment can schedule 3-hour testing blocks in Bryan Building, room 209.
Please note: Effective 4/1/2023, OARS testing services will use this new scheduling system. After April 1st, the old system will no longer be available. If you have already scheduled tests for April 1st or later, you will receive a confirmation email from the new system without further action.

    What is the UPL?
In partnership with OARS, the UPL can assist with proctoring for students who need extended time (up to 90 minutes) or require a distraction-reduced environment. The UPL in Forney 114 is a secure, calm, low-distraction environment for students to take tests. Testing slots typically begin every 90 minutes from 9:00 AM-9:00 PM, Monday-Friday, and some Saturdays. In addition to some accommodated testing, the UPL provides proctoring for makeup exams and alternate-site testing for several courses. For more information on the UPL, please visit https://testing.uncg.edu/upl/. (For OARS-specific questions, please email oars@uncg.edu, or call 336/334-5440.)

Our goal with this new system is to simplify the accommodated testing process and to offer consistency in test scheduling at UNCG. We thank you in advance for helping us make this transition as smooth as possible.
